WPIA News

Been calling and calling to get some of these street lights fixed. Seems like it takes forever to get some of them fixed – but we are still on it.

I found a website ComEd has, so I sent in the info on that. Have to see if they get someone out soon.

The Board will be voting on a by-laws change that says …  All dues must be mailed to the PO box  or brought to the meeting.

We are doing this in an effort to make sure things do not get lost.

In the past, dues were given to people to pass along to the Secretary and sometimes things were misplaced or forgotten about. We hope that this new rule will eliminate that from happening.

Lien Costs Rise

The Illiniois state government has passed a bill creating a fund for low income housing that has increased the cost that the County Recorder charges to record a document. The state now collects an additional $10.00 from each transaction processed by the recorders offices in every county in the state. The cost has risen from $29.00  to $39.00 for the first 4 pages and $1.00 for each additional page. The cost of this increase will be passed along to anyone who has a lien placed or released by Williams Park in the future. That means that if a lien is placed on your property it will add an additional $80.00 to your balance.

Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers for one project or another.  The reason being, is that when we get help from volunteers, we don’t have to pay someone else to do it.  This in turn helps us keep our dues low.

If you would like to volunteer for anything, from mowing grass to cleaning and even some road repairs and tree removal….give your Governors a call and let them know that you would like to help.

Parking On the Roads

Prohibited

Several notices had to go out to residents that have been parking cars on the roads. The park roads are very narrow and it is almost impossible for two cars to pass, especially if there is a car parked on the road easement.

There are new rules in the park concerning easements and common property and the park can fine people who block these areas. We Do Not want to have to do that and we hope that everyone will keep their vehicles on their own property  but  we must keep the park safe and clear of obstructions so that an emergency vehicle will not be blocked at a critical moment and so the snow plow can easily do his job  and so everyone can get around the park without a lot of hassles.

Also keep in mind that you must be careful not to put any fences up or build anything off of your property line.

The County or the park can make you move it if it encroaches the park’s or someone else’s property.

An Open letter from a resident

I've been a resident of Williams Park for 22 years, and am becoming more concerned with what's going on with the children of the neighborhood.  On Saturday, April 29th my concern became frustration.  On my way home from work I was driving passed "Sand Hill" when I realized a branch struck my car.  When I went to see what happened I found three children on the hill.  I was told that the other three ran off and that those who ran had thrown the branch.  Luckily there was no damage, but those children who were throwing branches into the road on a rainy day could very well have broken someone's windshield.  I understand that rainy days are boring, but when I was growing up in this neighborhood, if it was raining, you went in doors.  It's very frustrating when you try to get phone numbers so that parents can be informed about what their children are doing and you only get a child's cell phone number, or an excuse to avoid knowing where the child actually lives.  At the risk of sounding like a cliché, it's disappointing nowadays that our children can't be trusted in more ways than one.

I know that summer is also upon us, and that means the kids will be out of school, and will be outdoors.  I think it's great that we ride four wheelers and golf carts around on our streets, but if this is going to continue the rules of the road need to be observed.   There have been far too many times that a child on a motorized vehicle or even a regular bicycle has sped across main street without even a glance to see if a car is coming.  It's been witnessed too many times, and I'm afraid of what could happen one of these days if everyone isn't careful.

I hope my concerns don't go unrecognized.

Thank You…..
