Rally-O

Rally Obedience is a fun way to get started in competitive dog sports! The rules are much more relaxed than in formal obedience or even in agility. Rally is a course of numbered stations. Each station has a sign with instructions and must be performed correctly. If you think you messed up, you are allowed to try again for a 3 point loss instead of 10 for an incorrectly preformed station.

Rally has 3 different levels depending on what organization you are competing in. Since we currently compete in AKC events, this page will focus on AKC rally, altho links will be provided at the bottom for other kinds.

In Rally, you are allowed to talk to your dog the entire time! Which makes it really great for dogs who are competing for the first time. You can re-command your dog and use both a verbal and hand signal at all times.

Since the course is laid out, handler and dog go through the course at their own pace. The judge docks points for thinks like tight leashes and incorrectly preformed stations.

I have had a lot of fun with Rally and plan to continue to compete in it! The pictures on this page are taken from a video feed, so I apologize for the poor quality.

Tap's 1st time in the Rally ring. Score of 97/100
