Morel MDT-30/32 & 33

I was always impressed with the dynamic range of these tweeters since I first heard the 32 in one of the first "DIY" designs. They sound refined, but carry this refinement into upper decibel range. My old design using the MDT-32 was a complete disaster, but it still impressed me. You could almost call the tweeter a poor-man's dynaudio or scan-speak.

High-order Filter? Why?

Many designs use the MDT-30/32/33 with a first order filter even at low points like 2,000 hz. How can they do this, the voice coil is very tough and mechanically damped. The ferrofuild adds to the damping even more, allowing the use of such filters. However, any tweeter sounds "sweeter" when it isn't pushed, so i use a third order filter to allow it to work stress free even at loud volumes.
