The General Cabinet Design The cabinet design is a straight-forward 10 liter enclosure. I chose to use a madisound woodstyle enclosure since it fit my needs perfectly. The model is WS802 and I chose black oak for it's finish. Speaker placement on the baffle is optimized to minimize edge diffraction and it's resultant ripple. Presented below is the front layout for the sealed enclosure. If you wish to make it vented, simply add a port below the woofer. For a QB3 alignment, the port should be 1.5" diameter and 4.5" in length. Here is the overall layout I started with.  The only problem I discovered is that the front grill frame is about 1" wide and interferes with the woofers offset. I moved the woofer 1" from the edge to compensate for this effect. The driver's center's and cut diameters are listed below.

  • Tweeter's Center X: 4" from inside edge
  • Tweeter's Center Y: 4" from top edge
  • Tweeter's Cut Diameter: 3.15" (80mm)
  • Woofer's Center X: 5" from inside edge
  • Woofer's Center Y: 9" from top edge
  • Woofer's Cut Diameter: 5.75" (146mm)

The back input cup holes are precut by madisound for their GB or CB models. I used no crossover circuit board, and instead simply hot-glued the components to the inside walls, spacing the inductors by a minimum of five inches.
