WATERVLIET LIBRARY'S RECIPE FOR LIBRARY SERVICE
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Slightly used building:
The Watervliet Library moved into its present building in 1985.
It was purchased with grant money from
the Library of Michigan
and additional funds raised by the Library Board and caring citizens.
It has a usable square foot area of 6,900.
- 1 Mission:
The mission of the Watervliet District Library is to be a community resource center
which will develop
and maintain a wide variety of materials and services
to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs
of the entire community
and provide access to those materials beyond the library's own collection.
- 5 Dedicated board members:
Donald Young, President; Richard Woodruff, Vice President;
Mary Tatter, Secretary; Thomas Yore, Treasurer;
Richard Fox, Trustee.
- 5 Helpful, friendly employees:
Lois Hartman, Karen Tarantino, Dona Wolske, Amanda Cowell, and Mary Vincent (volunteer).
- A heaping helping of registered patrons hungering for knowledge
and thirsting for enjoyment and enlightenment:
We currently have over 3,000 registered borrowers.
If you don't have a library card yet, come on in and we will get you
set up with one!
- 24,000 items to satisfy all tastes and desires:
We have everything from childrens picture books to elementary readers,
juvenile books (fiction and non fiction), young adult fiction,
adult fiction and non fiction.
We also have reference books, audio books(fiction and nonfiction),
videos (fiction and non fiction), magazines, and Internet Access.
- A moderate portion of programs and services:
Including Story Hour, Summer Reading Program, Large Print Books,
Tax Forms, Community Room Rental, Fax Service and Photo Copying Service.
Blend all together and toss lightly.
Add convenient hours, a large parking area and handicap accessibility.
Keep together with state funding, penal fines, tax dollars and donations
to form a library that can't be beat!
