Final Project - April 27th, 1999

Team Number 23

Posted on April 27th, 1999

For this project I put together a web site to Travel Industry Placement Services.  A family company which places travel agents with agencies on both temporary and permanent assignments.

In designing this project I learned how to register a domain name, search and find an appropriate web hosting company, use Front Page 2000 as a web server, design a website to fit the needs of a customer and publish the site to the Internet.  In doing the web site I found how easy, yet complicated some of the processes can be.  For example, form wizards make life seem easy compared to just a few years ago, yet at the same time with all the new technologies coming along so quickly each month and formal standards slow to keep up, Internet publishing can be that much more difficult.

Final Class Notes:

Through this class I learned a lot about tools, standards and ideas for web development. I learned about current technologies on their way out and new technologies that are just beginning.  This class was probably one of the most time consuming I have ever taken!  But the amount of information we covered was equal to the work involved..

Enabling the students to distant learn with this course was also a positive experience.  Watching the class on cable Monday nights made life easier and having all the class notes and syllabus on-line helped me get the most out of the class.  I wish more classes would offer on-line syllabus and class note information!

Thank you for your time this semester!  And best of luck on your retirement.
