NOT AN OFFER OF SALE
The most famous firearm of the early West was the prized
"Plains Rifle" manufactured by Jacob and Samuel Hawken of St. Louis.
when Samuel retired, he sold the business to one of his gunsmiths.
J.P. Gremmer. J.P. continued the fine "Hawken" line, then after the
Civil Ar, he got involved in cartridge conversions. Utilizing inexpensive
military surplus, Sharps percussion rifles and carbines, Gremmer stripped
the guns for their actions, converted them to cartridge configuration,
and built the custom breech loaders well under the price of a new Sharps.
Some of Gremmers Sharps retained the lines of the old Hawken rifle with
barrel wedges and ramrod. This Pedersoli replica is in the "Plains
Rifle" style. It features a blued heavy octagon barrel, walnut stock
with pewter nose cap, case hardened receiver, and double set triggers.
Barrel: 29-1/2". Weight: 11 lbs 13 oz.
