1. Albert1 Harris; born circa 1810 in ME, Brunswick ?; married Hannah Dennison Greenleaf, daughter of Ebenezer Greenleaf and Hannah Dennison Haskell, 12 Sep 1833 in Williamsburg, Piscataquis, ME; married Elizabeth Jenks Greenleaf, daughter of Ebenezer Greenleaf and Hannah Dennison Haskell, circa 1847 in ME or MN; married Ann C. Braydon 9 Jan 1856 in Stillwater, MN; died 23 Mar 1856 in MN probably, WI possibly; his estate was probated 1856 in Washington Co., MN and St.Croix, Co., WI.
He was a house carpenter in 1830. He was among the first settlers in the area that became Stillwater, MN. The Carli family is said to have come in 1841. On the 10th of October 1843 commenced the settlement of Stillwater by the propriators John McKusick of Maine, Elam Greely of Maine, Elias McKean of Vermont and Calvin F. Leach of Pennsylvania who set about building a sawmill and engaging in lumbering operations. It is likely that Albert came with them or followed shortly thereafter because by 1845 he had a house on Main Street and on 1 January 1846 he is reported to be among eight men living there with their wives.
In 1853, in partnership with J. D. Trumball, he purchased the site of the Village of Maiden Rock, WI. There in 1855 he built the first house and in 1856 constructed a steam saw mill. A number of others related to Albert came at about the same time. According to "Minnesota Biographies" the brother of Albert's wife Eleazer Alley Greenleaf came in 1847.
As shown by the 1860 census for MN, Eleazer and another of his wife's borthers Marshfield Parsons Greenleaf were living in Shakopee, Scott County. In fact, at that time Albert's daughter, Mary had been taken in by Eleazer and his wife Susan who had no children of their own. Eleazer, who had attended the Bangor Theological Seminary later established the first Episcopal church in Stillwater.
There was also a Simon Greenleaf living in Shakopee but it is not clear how he relates to the others.
There is a record of the administration of his estate in both Washington Co., MN and in St. Croix Co., WI. In those records he is said to be in partnership with John McKusik, Jonathan E. McKusick, Elias McKean and Christopher Carli for land in Range 20, Township 30 and with Amos Harris (not identified) and John D. Trunble in other lands.
Requests for the appointment of William Willim as administrator were made by Ann C. Harris, identified as his wife, in St. Croix Co. WI and by Grace J. Harris, not identified, in Washington Co.MN. number of other people related to Albert came at the e. According to See History of St. Croix Valley by Augustus B.
